{"id":5299,"date":"2023-06-15T10:00:50","date_gmt":"2023-06-15T17:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/berkonomics.com\/?p=5299"},"modified":"2023-06-01T14:18:07","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T21:18:07","slug":"how-are-you-setting-your-goals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/berkonomics.com\/?p=5299","title":{"rendered":"How are you at setting your goals?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve spent several weeks discussing your vision for success, and whether you could be the next Ford, Jobs or Musk.\u00a0 Now it\u2019s time to make this more tangible, more real \u2013 by attaching personal goals to this vision we\u2019ve created together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reminder: What is your vision?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, your vision tells the world what you want to be as you contemplate how you will<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2944\" src=\"https:\/\/berkonomics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Goals-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/> change the world for the better.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How does that differ from your goal?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In contrast, your goal is a tangible aiming point, one that should be achievable within several years if you accomplish your progressive steps planned between now and then. \u00a0You can express it in terms of money, market share, influence or other measure that reflects success.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s a business example:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be at a $25 million run rate by the end of our fifth year in business.\u201d\u00a0 That is measurable.\u00a0 From it, you\u2019ll be able to look backward to develop a set of steps (strategies) to achieve that goal.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em>[Email readers, continue here&#8230;]\u00a0<\/em><\/span> \u00a0Once achieved, a goal is meant to be overwritten with a newer one, set to even higher standards.\u00a0 If achieved early, celebrate and set another goal earlier than planned.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And why is that so important?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2396\" src=\"https:\/\/berkonomics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/success-failure.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"276\" height=\"183\" \/>The good thing about a goal is that it is measurable, and progress toward it can be measured as well.
