In 1994 my first startup, had a proposal from Sony Music for a large equity investment. We liked the deal, senior management at Sony liked the deal (they had solicited us).  In the limo on the way back from the initial meeting in NYC we had agreed in principle on terms and were all feeling celebratory. Our lawyer takes a sip of his scotch and says &quot;Don&#039;t get too cocky Boyd; lawyers kill deals.&quot;  and they did, over the course of a year...  Was the beginning of what I call my MBA by fire. (or really, just a business ass-kicking)]]></description>
